Early Childhood Development Center–Mawalgama, Seethawaka Pradeshiya Sabha
Beginning: – (History)
This pre-school was started by Mrs. Violet Rupasinghe in 1972 under the control of the village council in a building of the Roman Catholic school in Mawalgama. After Mrs. Violet Rupasinghe, Mrs. Allen Rosie Rupasinghe served from 1978 to 1982 and Mrs. H.P. Vimalawathi also served from 1982 to 05.06.2006.
With the inception of Pradeshiya Sabhas The administrative activities are done by the pradeshiya sabha and this school which doesn’t have a permanent building was brought to a building where constructed in the Mawalgama playground which belongs to Pradeshiya Sabha in 1996.
These pre-schools have been established to provide relief to the economy of the rural masses who cannot spend a lot of money on education in this time where they have to spend a lot of money on the education of their children.
Mawalgama Early Childhood Development Center of Seethawaka Pradeshiya Sabha is the only institution which provides education for the children in the Western Province at no cost.

- Organizing religious programs for Vesak festival
- Conducting a Dansala (alms giving) for the Poson Festival

- Commemoration of World Children’s Day and Adult Day
